SSERC invites 5 secondary teachers to apply for an industry placement at Abbott in Dundee. Whilst any teacher of STEM can apply, the placement is ideal for biology and chemistry teachers who are interested learning more about relevant workplaces, the practical skills required, careers pathways and overall developing careers education knowledge to help inspire and support their learners. The placement is two days long and will require you to be away from school at the placement providers location all day.
Abbott Laboratories is a multinational medical diagnostics and devices business. This is an opportunity to experience working in a medical diagnostics business, part of the direct supply chain to the NHS, and the wide diversity of roles this takes. The site is responsible for products used in large hospital laboratories and smaller point of care facilities, which test for medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, and Vitamin B12 deficiency.
