BFI Film Academy Edinburgh Short Course - Apply Now!

Applications are now open for our BFI Film Academy! This high-quality course is designed for ambitious young people aged 16 to 19 living in Edinburgh, the Lothians, the Borders, Fife, Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire who are passionate about exploring a career in film or television.

Throughout the course, you'll gain hands-on experience in all areas of the filmmaking process; from screenwriting, cinematography and sound to directing, production and editing. You’ll work alongside experienced industry professionals, take part in inspiring masterclasses, and create your own short films as part of a team.

You’ll also gain a BFI/Screen Skills NCFE Level 2 qualification: ‘Preparing to Work in the Film Industry’ (equivalent to SCQF Level 5), which supports both further study and direct entry into employment.

No previous experience is necessary - just a passion for film.

The course is completely FREE, with bursaries available to help with travel costs if needed.
