Solarpunk Island-What is it?
Solarpunk Island is an innovative educational experience designed to challenge pupils aged 10 – 18 years old to harness their creative thinking skills and create a sustainable society on a fictional island. This resource integrates STEAM disciplines, fostering creatvity, collaboration, and sustainability awareness.
Pupils embark on a virtual journey where they imagine being shipwrecked on Solarpunk Island, a deserted land where they must not only survive but also thrive using limited resources.
Built around 5 key themes that cultivate essential skills in pupils: research, conceptualisation, iteration, communication, and evaluation and beginning with a strong foundation in research, learners are encouraged to explore real-world sustainability challenges, deepening their understanding of complex issues. They then embark on a journey of conceptualisation, where they brainstorm innovative solutions to these challenges, fostering creativity and critical thinking.
